Position Description:

The JR Cloud Engineer will be responsible for assisting in providing expertise in the software development regarding middleware and cloud infrastructure for VA programs. They will work with SR. Cloud and Middleware engineers and receive guidance and support from a Functional Subject Matter Expert. The JR Cloud Engineer will help to develop systems involving new technologies, methods, concepts or approaches. They may provide supervisory, technical, and administrative direction for personnel performing system development tasks, including the review of work products for correctness, adherence to the design concept and to user standards, and for progress in accordance with schedules. The JR. Cloud Engineer will perform required analysis of information management and data requirements, develop test plans, procedures and data, and evaluate system, effectiveness and efficiency. They will need a strong knowledge of Cloud software and have the ability to move items to the cloud, analyze problems and work with a team to find solutions.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

• Analyze Infrastructure and provide expertise regarding how infrastructure can be improved

• Work with a team of System Analysts and Engineers

• Consult with other Business Unit (BU) areas to provide direction for functional domains related to IT systems and projects

• Responsible for any technological duties associated with cloud computing, including design, planning, management, maintenance and support

• Oversee the cloud computing strategy- including cloud adoption plans, cloud application design, and cloud management and monitoring

• Assess user requirements, design and configure user interfaces, perform integration testing

• Perform system administration tasks supporting the cloud environment

• Upgrade patches and migrations

• Designs, develops, evaluates and modifies systems and systems-oriented products

• Provide support as needed

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

• Knowledge of IT Infrastructure

• Knowledge of cloud and middleware engineering

• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment

• Experience and knowledge of information systems and architecture

• Experience with networking, telecommunications, automation, communications protocols

• Ability to conduct risk management/electronic analysis

• Experience with life-cycle management, software development methodologies

• Ability to produce models and conduct simulations

• Experience with tool integration, data migration, template updates, product upgrades, and application and database administration

• Experience and knowledge of software development

• Ability to analyze a complex infrastructure and IT environment and make recommendations for improvement based on findings

• Experience using:

• Java Technologies

• Web services

• Service Oriented Architecture

• Experience in modern web development

• Expert skills in writing JavaScript (particularly with EXT + AJAX jQuery)



• CSS code

• •C/C+• assembly (X86, MIPS, PPC)

• network programming

• Unix and Unix Scripting

• Python scripting

• embedded programming

• Active TS/SCI with favorable polygraph clearance.

• Cloud

• Experience with Twister Data Framework

• Experience with Twister flows and components

• Ruby on Rails

• Agile development methodologies

• Flex

• Oracle Spring-MVC and the overall Spring stack

• Windows system integration
