Position Description:

CGI is hiring an Oil and Gas Accountant for our team in Dallas, TX. This is a full time role with CGI, and all benefits start on your first day of employment! The ideal candidate for this role will have a solid understanding of lease, royalty, joint interest partners, mineral interest ownership, and basic legal principle concepts that apply to mineral title ownership.

This is an integral position within CGI’s Oil and Gas Practice in the DFW area. Minimal travel regionally may be required as needed. This position is located in our Dallas, TX office and requires the work to be performed onsite 5 days a week, M-F.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

In this role, you will be responsible for Property Accounting, Lease Administration, Revenue Accounting and Production Analysis, and will be involved with the day-to-day Joint Interest Accounting for operated and non-operated properties providing assurance that the joint interest billings are in compliance with the operating agreements, and will work to resolve any inquires arising from the joint interest partners.

As an Accountant on our team, you will also be involved with performing special analysis and reconciliation for general accounting and will assist with the preparation of internal and external financial packages. Additionally, you will be involved with the technical and implementation support for various oil and gas accounting systems.

Other Responsibilities:

• Manage working interest joint accounts and associated receivables, bill working interests timely and accurately and serve as liaison between working interest owners and working interest audit

• Responsible for accurate and timely financials and driving cross-functional performance improvement

• Prepare and analyze operating expenses, capex and workover actual and estimates variance explanations to support monthly financial close and reporting

• Compliance and review of joint operating agreements in accordance with GAAP and COPAS policies and procedures

• Domestic and international time-writing to ensure appropriate charge-outs to partners

• Appropriate JV allocations, Overhead, and Cutback

• International property JIBS, invoicing, cash management, and accounting

• JIB preparation, review, and load to CGI software solution

• Issue and reconcile cash calls

• Track and up-date payouts

• Answering partner billing inquiries and managing non-op billing accounts and queries

• Ensuring compliance of all tasks with relevant Accounting standards and SOX controls

• Reviewing Balance Sheet account reconciliations and propose adjustments as needed

• Monthly sign-off of trial balances and financial statements

• Building software system super-user knowledge and system support

• Liaising with end clients and lead software enhancement projects as needed

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

• Strong knowledge and understanding of Land Administration

• A four year Bachelor degree in Accounting (Master’s degree in Accounting is preferred)

• CPA or equivalent certification preferred

• Progressive experience handling Oil and Gas Accounting, Joint Interest Billing, and Audits

• Experience with Onshore and Offshore properties (Operated and Non-Operated) is preferred

• Familiar with Joint Operating Agreements for Onshore and Offshore is preferred

• Understand COPAS and Sarbanes Oxley compliance documentations

• Working knowledge of drilling, completion, and production activities

• Strong work ethic and excellent organizational and communication skills

• Relevant consulting experience in a client-facing role

• Prior experience working with a JIB accounting team (with direct or indirect reports)
