Position Description:

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Automation Test Lead is a critical role in CGI Utilities Group and is responsible for all test automation effort. The Automation Test Lead is tasked with collaborating with project and support teams in order to identify automation needs, creating test plans, and designing and building automated solutions. Additionally, the incumbent will provide technical direction and support to team members on automation frameworks and all aspects of automated testing to ensure industry standards and best practices are followed.

FUTURE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

List principle responsibilities.

Automation Testing Duties:

• Automation of test plans to develop overtime a full suite of regression tests

• Designing, building and executing automated testing frameworks and automation scripts

• Ensure successful delivery of automation testing services to project and support teams

• Assist in the definition and documentation of test strategies

• Define and document automation strategies for new projects and existing systems

• Define automation processes, standards, guidelines and checklists

• Determine if manual and/or automated test tools should be used to execute test cases

• Provide test planning and support the overall automation testing efforts Create test scripts and ensure test scripts are documented, reported and tracked in HP Quality Center or appropriate tools

• Provide automation test reports and statistics and ensure accurate and complete documentation

• Execute automation test scripts, log defects and provide defect status reports

• Create and implement automation testing roadmaps

• Provides metrics to quantify the value of automated testing efforts

• Review automation design, test cases and scripts

• Prepare and publish regression automation coverage matrix

• Review and approve automation testing artifacts and/or deliverables

• Ensuring transparency of testing efforts

Other General Testing Duties:

• Analyze test requirements/designs, and produces re-usable test scripts and procedures to test new and amended software to be executed by self and other staff using agreed methods and standards

• Verify test script against business requirements using functional specification and technical documents provided by the design team.

• Understand and interpret functional and non-functional requirements as needed to develop test cases

• Actively work to identify, communicate, mitigate and resolve testing issues and risks

• Manage test scripts, test cases, test results using standard testing tooling like HP Application Life Cycle

• Produce plans to test the effect of the new and changed software on existing systems

• Install software onto test environments, identify if equipment is needed to deliver the test program

• Execute scripts and procedures to test new and amended proprietary software, data configuration, and product integration

• Lead and participate in test plan, test case, and test results review sessions and make modifications if necessary.

• Monitor progress and document test failures and successes compared with pre-defined criteria, in accordance with agreed standards

• Report test progress and metrics from ALM to ARM Test Manager

• Analyze bottlenecks and identify the optimal solution during test execution

• Analyze test results to ensure existing functionality is not broken and recommends corrective action

• Lead and mentor junior team members onsite or offshore and provide adequate information to them when needed on testing tools and processes.

• Responsible for training new members (internally or externally) in the team to help accelerate knowledge on testing tools and processes and within the ARM product suite..

• Responsible for building knowledge on the ARM Product Suite by reaching out to other SME from the product center or on project teams and documenting lessons learned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE

Automation/Technical Experience:

• 4+ years of experience as an automated testing architect

• Proven experience developing automated test systems using Visual Studio’s Coded UI module for both web and windows applications.

• Ability to create scripts beyond record and playback using C# and/or VB.NET, specifically developing functions, adding control flow logic, loops etc.

• Experience working with GUI object recognition and customization.

• Experience testing HTML5, .NET, .SQL, Windows GUI

• Experienced with HP UFT and HP ALM in general as a testing tool.

• Solid understanding of object oriented programming, design and debugging skills.

• Excellent understanding of software design techniques.

• Experience of source control systems and configuration management.

• Basic level knowledge of XML and RDBMS concepts.

• Experience in Agile development methodologies preferable.

• Proven ability to deliver quality results in a busy and dynamic business focused environment.

General Testing Experience:

• Strong knowledge of software testing and software quality assurance best practices and methodologies

• Working knowledge of the HP Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) QA tool and JIRA

• Test planning, test case creation and execution and defect logging using a QA tool

• Familiar with business component testing, preferred

• Basic knowledge of XML, HTML and other scripting languages

• Previous lead experience with both onshore and offshore QA teams is a must
