Position Description:

CGI Federal is searching for the next member to join its accessibility community as an Accessibility Specialist. In this role you will be part of a client-facing consulting team responsible for supporting a government-wide Accessible Technology Program (ATP) which will provide not only Section 508 compliance responsibilities but serves as a partner to its employees ensuring technology is an aid, not a barrier, to successfully performing their job regardless of disability.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

• Work in partnership with disability-related and equal opportunity-related programs and organizations to coordinate technology accessibility services for employees.

• Draft policy and procedural guidance to address accessibility regulatory and disabled workforce inclusion requirements at all stages of the acquisition and development lifecycles.

• Develop and maintain program training, orientation, educational materials, and best practices on technology accessibility services and disabled workforce inclusion.

• Provide senior subject matter expertise on how to address accessibility regulatory and disabled workforce inclusion requirements in planning, acquisition, design development, implementation, governance, and reporting processes.

Support tasks include:

o Conduct current and future state needs assessments

o Develop a roadmap

o Propose and document key performance indicators, performance metrics, and Service Level Agreements (SLAs)

o Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

o Provide implementation support

• Advise on establishing and supporting relevant communities of practice and survey instruments to improve understanding of existing environments, tools, life cycle practices, and challenges across the department to ensure strategic technical guidance is relevant and appropriate for implementation.

• Provide Assistive Technology (AT) support, including:

o Evaluate new AT for use within the client’s IT environment and track usage of such products within the environment.

o Perform AT needs assessments for persons with disabilities.

o Document findings of AT needs assessments and coordinate with stakeholders, as needed.

o Provide AT evaluation/comparison reports annually, or as new/competing products become available in the commercial marketplace.

To meet expectations, you must be able to:

• Demonstrate a strong work ethic, be open to learning new things, and continuously improving your digital accessibility knowledge and skills to support quality delivery to our clients.

• Work in a fast-paced environment, serving as a reliable source of answers for accessibility questions.

• Work independently, with limited guidance and day-to-day oversight.

• Effectively communicate accessibility and AT needs assessments in writing as well as verbally in meetings with internal and external clients.

• Produce high-quality work products that meet or exceed client expectations.

• Deliver tasks on time and on budget.

• Consistently build and maintain positive relationships with others, relating well to all kinds of individuals across CGI and the client organizations.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

• Due to the nature of the government contracts, this position requires US Citizenship.

• 3+ years of information technology, content management, or other related experience.

• Experience conducting research into emerging accessibility topics/trends or new technologies.

• Knowledge of Assistive Technologies (AT) used by people with disabilities.

• Understanding of accessibility regulatory and disabled workforce inclusion requirements.

Desired qualifications

• Knowledge of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) accessibility principles, guidelines, and standards (Section 508, WCAG) and where to find relevant information in supporting technical specifications (HTML, WAI-ARIA).

• Working knowledge of HTML, WAI-ARIA, CSS, JavaScript.

CGI is required by law in some jurisdictions to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $66,300 - $127,700.
