Position Description:

Provides deployment, installation, training & support on computer systems, hardware & software onsite for a designated customer and staff members. Position covers a variety of tasks for end users including onsite support. Provides systems maintenance support including troubleshooting, problem analyses and assessments for hardware and software systems and assigned projects. Makes recommendations to new end users regarding methods and approaches for using new hardware and software. Assures proper, clear, concise and complete technical guidance for use by technical installers and trainers. At higher levels will project manage customer deployments by assigning personnel and leading team.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

Primary responsibility is training proprietary application software; therefore strong technical training skills are required.

Position requires strong communication skills and the ability to interact with a user base that encompasses widely varied cultures.

Must be able to communicate clearly and accurately both verbally and in writing.

Must be able to develop and write technical training documentation (lesson plans, procedures, reports, etc.)

Familiarity with hardware quality assurance (QA) and troubleshooting

Proficiency in MS Office 2007 products (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) or equivalent products.

Ability to work efficiently in a time-sensitive environment, both as part of a team and independently, is critical.

Strong organizational skills are a necessity.

Ability to occasionally work evening/overnight hours in order to accommodate users in other time zones.

Local and long distance travel for in-person, classroom-style training is required. Travel will be to the State Department and vendor/contractor facilities in the Washington DC area, and possibly to Domestic U.S. cities and U.S. Overseas Foreign Posts. Solo travel to remote and/or dangerous overseas locations is a possibility.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

A bachelor’s degree or equivalent technical training, with four (4) years of experience in installation, training, and support on computer systems, hardware and software. Department of State experience desired. Experience may be substituted for educational requirements, and education may be substituted for years of experience
