Position Description:

The ideal candidate for this position is an experienced developer with strong Java, database, and data modeling skills, a demonstrated understanding of application design, and the ability to communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience. This position requires complex problem-solving including the ability to develop clear and concise system requirements in support of application design that meets business and technical requirements while simultaneously achieving optimal performance. The candidate selected for this position will have the opportunity to grow their technical and leadership skills while working with a dynamic, energetic, fast-paced team.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

The Technical/Data Architect applies advanced experience with data architectures, system architectures, application technologies, and infrastructures to support key IT initiatives.

The candidate must apply their knowledge of IT best practices appropriately to visualize and define IT solutions that meet requirements and align with the client’s strategy, mission needs, and business architecture. The candidate will collaborate with multiple stakeholders to better understand technical and business requirements to ensure these requirements meet desired client business and mission objectives.

The individual must possess the ability to analyze solutions and technologies and recommend modifications based on knowledge of the organization's current and future needs.

The candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to: reviewing business and technical requirements, focusing on solution development throughout the project lifecycle, , leveraging best practices and proven patterns, and escalating architecture risks and issues. The candidate will create data architectures and designs, will conduct peer reviews, and will develop target state architectures.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

  • US Citizenship required.

10+ years’ experience in software development, technical architecture, and IT consulting.

Skills required:

  • Experience with Java, Oracle, and Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition architectures.

  • Familiarity with PostgreSQL.

  • Experience designing and refactoring large application databases.

  • Experience designing and developing REST APIs, and familiarity with SOAP APIs.

  • Experience with XML and JSON.

  • Familiarity with Cloud Development and Operations (e.g., AWS [S3, EFS, R53, RDS (MySQL and PostgreSQL), VPC, EC2, CloudWatch, CloudFormation] and Azure)

  • Knowledge and experience with Agile development methodology and Scrum-based development.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with both internal team members and customers. Able to effectively communicate with third party collaborators to jointly contribute to the project’s success.

  • Ability to balance multiple assignments.

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, or other technical discipline.

  • Ability to mentor and support junior team members while continuing to contribute and complete work.

  • Self-starting and self-managing experience

Desired Qualification

The following qualifications will strongly benefit a candidate:

  • Agile/Scrum certifications and training.

  • Experience using Atlassian tools, e.g. JIRA, Confluence, BitBucket, etc.

  • Experience with GitHub.

  • Government Consulting experience.

  • Will accept a Master’s degree and 8 years experience.

The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $108600/ to $190100
