Position Description:
CGI has an opening for an experienced Agile Release Train Engineer (RTE) with experience in enterprise-level or equivalent complex systems. This position will work directly with leadership as part of a broader agile effort to develop a new design, development, integration, testing, and delivery of next-generation products.
The applicant is to be available during Eastern Time zone business hours as needed to guide operations of 70+ team members to the higher levels of agile performance. This role can be performed from Hartford, CT, Philadelphia, PA, New York, NY, New Brunswick, NJ or Lafayette, LA.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
As a Release Train Engineer (RTE) you will be at the forefront of driving the flow of work across the organization, ensuring alignment with agile principles while navigating the unique challenges of a dynamic business environment. Your role goes beyond the standard agile framework, requiring a blend of servant leadership, authoritative decision-making, and a deep understanding of organizational dynamics.
• Drive Effective Delivery: Lead the Agile Release Train (ART) to ensure alignment, effective planning, and on-time delivery of high-quality products. Balance execution with organizational goals, driving teams to meet business objectives.
• Navigate Constraints: Identify and address organizational challenges that hinder team performance. Collaborate with leadership to remove roadblocks and foster an environment of continuous improvement.
• Cultivate Agile Mindset: Coach teams to embrace change and agile principles, addressing resistance to ensure continuous improvement and alignment with agile practices.
• Execution & Accountability: Hold teams accountable while providing support for successful delivery. Facilitate decentralized decision-making aligned with business goals.
• Strategic Leadership: Apply deep agile knowledge to make informed decisions, prioritize high-impact work, and guide the ART toward long-term success.
• Facilitate Communication: Act as the central communication hub across the ART, ensuring transparency and alignment among stakeholders through effective program-level ceremonies.
• Performance & Feedback: Track and analyze key performance indicators, providing data-driven insights to guide decision-making and continuous improvement. Implement feedback mechanisms to promote self-assessment and growth.
• Oversee Quality & DevOps: Collaborate with QA and DevOps teams to integrate and optimize testing, deployment, and automation processes, ensuring high standards are maintained across the development lifecycle.
• Cross-functional collaboration: Foster collaboration between QA, DevOps, and development teams, promoting shared responsibility for quality and operational excellence.
• Agile Coaching & Leadership Development: Mentor teams, Product Owners, and leadership, helping them refine agile practices and navigate cultural and operational shifts to achieve greater business agility.
Qualifications:
• Proven experience as a Release Train Engineer (RTE) or similar leadership role within an agile organization.
• Strong operational leadership skills with a track record of successful delivery in complex environments.
• Deep understanding of agile principles with the ability to apply them pragmatically.
• Excellent communication and facilitation skills, capable of influencing stakeholders at all levels.
• Experience navigating organizational constraints and driving cultural change to support agile practices.
• Ability to make tough decisions, prioritize effectively, and balance competing demands.
• Strong servant leadership mindset, empowering teams while maintaining authority, accountability, and centralized decision-making.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
5 years of experience in Agile operation leadership and SAFe Agile.
Preference to RTE or SPC certified.

Desired qualifications/non-essential skills required
• Five or more years leading agile operations of 50 or more members
• Scaled Agile Consultant (SPC5 or 6) or Scaled Agile Release Train Engineer (RTE) certification preferred
• Experience with both product start-up and mature product development preferred

The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to: skill set level; experience and training; and licensure and certifications. CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $96,500 - 235,200.
