Position Description:

Under the direction of the Local Services Manager / State Contract Manager, the Management Assessment Specialist (MAS) is responsible for the timely and accurate completion of specified core tasks for approximately 45 multi-family housing contracts subsidized under HUD’s Project Based Section 8 Housing program.

CGI Federal is looking for a motivated individual that is able to multi-task, demonstrate good time management, report writing skills and the ability to oversee a portfolio size of 40-50 Section 8 properties. The MAS will work alongside property managers and owners of Section 8 buildings and help them to remain in compliance with all the HUD rules and regulations.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

Effectively compile and writes Management and Occupancy Review (MOR) reports detailing specific findings, criteria and corrective actions in the monitoring of project compliance in the following areas:

  • Marketing and Tenant Selection

  • Leasing and Occupancies

  • Rent Determination and Subsidy Request

  • Management of Maintenance Program

  • Respond to safety concerns

  • Timely and accurate follow-up to ensure adequate responses to close the MOR report

  • Establish and maintain positive relations with owners, residents and their representatives,

neighborhood groups and local governments

  • Respond fully and promptly to inquiries and dispatches from Contract, Quality Assurance,

Finance and Reporting Specialists

  • Maintain complete and detailed files and provide the Team Leader and/or Manager with data

and records requested in a timely manner

  • Successfully complete all required training programs within prescribed period

  • Participate in ensuring a fully functional contract administration case management system to

meet 100% of the required deadlines and avoid contractual penalties.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

  • Must have at least three years of general business experience, preferably in

property management, claims processing or case management

  • AA degree in business or related field is required, but relevant experience will be considered in lieu of degree

  • Ability to work independently, as well as on a team

  • Proficiencies in Word, Excel and Outlook and excellent written and verbal communication

skills

  • Must be able to travel approximately 75% of the work week, mostly local, and might require

an occasional overnight

  • Must be acceptable to travel (within the 5 boroughs) as well as LI and the Metro North areas such as Westchester, Kingston, Poughkeepsie etc.
