We are looking for a consulting with experience building and managing taxonomies and ontologies – with related technical experience and business acumen. This effort includes working with the client team to identify core business terms, map to known Life Sciences standards and optimize a term set to server as a taxonomy/ontology. This effort also includes supporting technical elements of implementation, and creating full documentation. Client facing/consulting skills are required, as well as a strong knowledge of data principles, taxonomy/ontology languages and relationship development.
Life sciences experience and domain knowledge is a plus. This work is for global pharmeutical organizations located in the PA/NJ area.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
Requirements definition and business consulting, taxonomy and ontology structure development, identification of best practices for development, governance and usage of terms, documentation, client liaison skills
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
Strong knowledge of taxonomy/ontology development practices, experience with taxonomy ontology development and term set management, life sciences experience would be extremely helpful, ability to clearly organize knowledge and understand and define the relationship between terms, client facing skills
• BA or BS in Library Science, Information Science, Management Information Systems or related field
• Master's Degree strongly preferred
• 3+ years of experience in data governance, ontology and taxonomy development, and content classification
• Client facing and documentation skills
• Consulting experience
• Ability to present complex information in a digestible format to decision making teams
Preferred Qualifications (not essential / wish list):
• Experience within the Life Sciences industry
• Advanced degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Linguistics, or Library Science.
• Any experience with qualitative research techniques such as Thematic Analysis.
• Knowledge of RDF/OWL and other ontology languages,
• Experience with triple stores, graphs, document stores and other No-SQL databases
• Proficiency in data analysis, semantic modeling, knowledge and ontology engineering
• Strong logical and conceptual reasoning, strong attention to detail
• Experience with Protoge, OBO editor, and other standard tools. Experience with Smartlogic will be of value.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS/NON-ESSENTIAL SKILLS REQUIRED
• Translate natural language (NL) and business jargon into complex knowledge representations
• Design and deploy ontologies, taxonomies, models and other structures
• Govern multiple large-scale enterprise business ontologies
• Collect and arbitrate disparate views of a knowledge domain
• Build and manage the Enterprise Data Governance program
• Be a resource on industry standards for life science knowledge domains
• Work with developers to design and implement technology solutions
• Integrate unstructured, semi-structured, and well-structured data
