Position Description:

CGI Federal is seeking a Law Clerk to provide support to CRS, a Division of DOJ in Washington DC.

Your future duties and responsibilities

Performs a variety of legal assistance duties in an office providing legal

assistance to attorneys or litigation teams. The Law Clerk works under close supervision with required assistance readily available. Persons in this position typically perform the following:

Ø Consult prescribed sources of information for facts relating to matters of interest to the program.

Ø Review documents to extract selected data and information relating to specific items.

Ø Review and summarize information in prescribed format on case precedent and decisions.

Ø Search and extract legal references in libraries and computer-data banks.

Ø If there are any, attend hearings or court appearances to become informed on administrative and/or court procedures and the status of cases, and where necessary, assist in the presentation of charts and other visual information.

In addition, maintains a close and highly responsive relationship with the supervisor and staff and provides additional administrative support for their day-to-day activities. Typically perform the following

Ø Prepares special or one time reports, summaries, or replies to inquiries, selecting relevant information from a variety of sources such as reports, documents, correspondence, other offices, etc., under general directions.

Ø Prepares travel authorization and vouchers for the general counsel staff using an automated travel system.

Ø Performs other duties assigned that are administrative in nature.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role

• Editing and proofreading skills required.

• Knowledge and understanding of administrative support functions.

• Required to be proficient in office products, such as internet/intranet, Word, Excel and PowerPoint for secretarial/word processor/spreadsheet/data base/power point requirements. Must be able to save, retrieve, edit, and present text, spreadsheets and/or charts. Prepares in final format, correspondence, statistical and managerial reports.

• Must be proficient in grammar, spelling and punctuation and is also required to produce printed materials accurately. Research and draft documents, including memos and reports. Respond to data calls.

• Education – BA or equivalent.

• General Experience – 2 years of progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled.

• Specific Experience – 1-year experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position to coordinate a wide-variety of specialize and administrative duties.

• Must be able to successfully pass a CGI Federal background investigation

• Must be able to obtain/maintain a DOJ MRPT clearance

Hourly Rate: $24.57/hour (non-negotiable)

CGI is required by law in some jurisdictions to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The determination of this range includes various factors including but not limited to: skill set level; experience and training; and licensure and certifications. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
