Position Description:

CGI is looking for a Software Engineer to join our Federal Business Unit to support our Security, Administrative, Judicial, and Enforcement (SAJE) Programs team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced team environment supporting the Library of Congress. Be part of our Agile team developing modern web applications using open source technologies. We are seeking multiple candidates at different levels of experience. Positions are not yet funded.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

The successful candidate will:

• Participate in Agile team processes such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, code reviews, and retrospectives

• Analyze and refine user stories and mockups working with UI/UX experts

• Design and develop web-based applications and system components that convert user stories into functioning code

• Help establish object-relational mapping and overarching data model for system environments and operational administration

• Participate in code reviews to recommend and implement refinements that improve quality, reliability, and performance

• Support testing to identify and resolve software defects, usability issues, and security issues

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

• Experience developing web applications using Python, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and AJAX

• Experience with MySQL database development

• Experience with Solr for enterprise search

• Experience using Django framework for rapid development

• Experience using JSON for data object construction and parsing

• Experience using Agile methodologies to incrementally build complex, large scale applications

Desired qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related engineering field

• Experience building and updating back-end application code that manipulates content, and interacts with other systems, and services

• Experience building and updating Soap/RESTful Application Programming Interfaces (APIs)

• Experience with MongoDB database development

• Experience with tools such as JIRA and Git/GitHub for application lifecycle management

• Experience with tools such as Jenkins for continuous integration

• Experience with other open source technologies and tools such as XML, WordPress, Memcached, and CloudFlare

• Experience developing and implementing ETL processes

• Experience coding application security components within server-side modules and UIs

• Experience with automated and manual testing, as well as integration testing using a third-party service such as Selenium

• Experience in Federal or Legislative branch system application development lifecycle
